Is there more opportunity for the members to reach out and witness for Christ in this so busy part of the world? Conducting Christian Life Programs, sustaining Pastoral formations and GK was our day-to-day commitment. God in his great goodness reminded us that Couples for Christ are called to be families in the Holy Spirit renewing the face of the earth and in this task we are called to take up the very mission of Christ in bringing glad tidings to the poor, working for total liberation in order to establish the kingdom of God. What about Medical Mission in Canada, do we have the opportunity to do this, a simple gesture of love to those who are sick? Absolutely! The work to reach out to all mankind has extended its scope by conducting a medical mission in Greater Toronto Area through the Canadian Blood Services Blood Program. Couples for Christ was more than happy to do their part in ensuring that blood was available. In fact, we have had quite a few recipients in our own community, could you just imagine if there was no blood available. By giving blood Couples for Christ is helping to ensure that blood is available for a stranger, for a friend or even for someone very dear to us. Jesus shed tons of blood for us to live, what is sharing a little of ours so others might live.

And so Couples for Christ and its Family Ministries had its first Blood donor clinic on January 28, 2006 at the Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish at 45 Ludstone in Etobicoke, Ontario.

On November 11, 2006, Couples for Christ hosted its second blood donor clinic, Canadian Blood Services, welcome CFC as it continued to demonstrate its obligation to their community and to other Canadians by signing the Partners for Life program that shows Couples for Christ dedication and commitment in saving lives. Since the start of the medical mission Couples for Christ have contributed 256 units of blood in the system, saving the lives of up to 768 patients.

What do these people have in common? Manny Aquino, Sonny Bautista, Temi Pangilinan, Max Dela Cruz, Lyn Derramas, Bo Galido, Nette Iledan, Wilfredo Apilit, Eve Alonzo and many more. They are our brothers and sisters who needed blood and they are still with us to tell their miraculous stories. Manny Aquino just recently had his Heart and Lung transplant, his story truly shows God’s great glory.

Blood Donors are Canada’s unsung heroes, each year donors roll up their sleeves to provide more than 800,000 units of blood to ensure everyone who needs blood receives it. Every single minute, of everyday someone needs blood.

Couples for Christ and its Family Ministries surely have begun to make a difference in someone else’s life. We praise and thank God for giving us this opportunity to take the task of renewing the face of the earth and bringing glad tidings to the poor.
