Volunteerism In SFC Canada
An Overview of the T.E.A.CH. Program
The TEACH Program is the Gawad Kalinga Volunteer Program for Education, under the guidance and direction of CFC-Educational Foundation Inc. (CFC-EFI), a Social Ministry of Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation, Inc. TEACH is an acronym for Teachers Empowered to Affect Children. It aims to invite young, single professionals who would like to serve the poor in the Philippines for at least 3 months to 1 year (renewable). They will be sent to a Gawad Kalinga village to serve in any of the 3 GK educational programs (Sibol, Sagip, SIGA) present in each site. They will be living with a Couples for Christ family (board & lodging) and will be absorbed into a CFC-Singles for Christ household for spiritual support.
This program is also open to YFC (college graduates or those who can take it in partial fulfillment of course requirements), CFC, HOLD, or SOLD members who are open to stay in the Philippines for volunteer work. For educators, this program can be applied for their sabbatical leaves from their colleges or universities.

My GK Experience | by Marlon Arenas
My purpose to serve in the Philippines was not to change the world or to make my mark through my efforts. Instead, it was simply to love the people and offer my presence through my time, talents and efforts. This journey was truly an experience of a lifetime and something which I will never forget. By serving the poor in the Philippines, I now have a greater appreciation for the work which is taking place to eliminate homelessness and poverty among the poorest of the poor. Through this journey, I am motivated to continue to serve and help the less fortunate. Once I am back in Canada I will share my story and continue to be an advocate for Gawad Kalinga, and raise awareness by spreading the word on this worthy cause.
